Review: Michael Gross is currently spearheading a new generation of techno producers for his own German label Electric Ballroom, charting a lesser-trodden sound for the Berlin scene, 90s rave. Still inflected with the mega-drops and hoover-risers endemic to much of EDM, there's a refreshing dryness to ADHS' sound, not normally traversed in much big room techno. 'Dancin' Forever' as a title nails it well; both the A track and 'Raveline', with their FM basses and tense string buildups, seem to continue on forever, ebbing upwards and downwards in flow.

Review: Utter wildness ensues, and the dancefloor is left tarnished. After the success of their last release together, 'Mirazh', Thomas Schumacher and A.D.H.S. reunite for a potent follow-up, both bottling and jarring the essence of Berlin techno. Simplicity abounds on 'Ex Machina' - perhaps alluding to the portentous Alex Garland film of the same name whose artificially intelligent omens will never leave us - as repetitious carnival drums blend madly with a semaphoric, high-octave melody. 'Umbra' and 'Morbida' are of course wicked techno accompaniments to boot, but in our view, it's really the A that risks most for the biscuit; we're sure you'll love it.

Review: 2025 to 1996 has marked enough time to look back on the techno / hard trance project The Montini Experience, who for their initial run of the single 'Astrosyn: My House Is Your House', went, for some reason, by the name The Montini Experience II. It's as if this historic hard trance moment was too potent to be borne by the original name, so to keep its weight held, they had to synthesise a second version of themselves. Though the original track dealt in immediacies of reverse-crashing trance lines and cheese-strung offbeat stabs, with a central, this modern version by Thomas Schumacher brightens and flambes the mix, sacrificing opening drum machines for a burgeoning prog-trance buildup.

Review: Final Fantasy VII is one of the most influential computer games of all time. It came on the Playstation and also left a great mark on the electronic music scene with its legendary soundtrack. "As a DJ I vividly recall the euphoria it sparked on dancefloors with its complex yet catchy trance melodies" says Themas Schumacher who, inspired by the game, has penned this new 12". It is sure to ignite a frenzy of hands-in-the-air moments with a timeless rework of this classic. It comes infused with his signature techno drums and has already been road tested to great effect around Europe.

Franco Smith and TimiR take a slightly different approach, crafting a hypnotic blend of pulsing basslines and tight, percussive details that hit with surgical precision. On the flip, Mark Porter's contribution strips things back to their bare essentials, letting subtle, looping melodies glide over crisp, metronomic beats. Gonzalo Cavalli rounds off the collection with something more emotive, layering shimmering synths over a steady, groove-laden foundation. This release is as much about showcasing individual artistry as it is about exploring techno's evolving formsia versatile and deeply considered collection.

Review: Technohead were a married couple of Lee Newman and Michael Wells who also famously recorded under the other names Greater than One (GTO), Tricky Disco, Signs of Chaos and Church of Extacy, They were well known in the late 80s and early 90s for their raw techno and rave tunes that explored every genre in the electronic dance kaleidoscope from Gabber to ambient music, even scoring a UK number one single with the warwormy pop gabba of 'I Want To Be A Hippy'. In 1993, their hardcore hit 'Passion' was a huge success. Now, a little more than 30 years later, German veteran Thomas Schumacher updates the track into another anthem worth checking out. Whichever side you choose, expect this slice of techno history to reign over the dancefloor. An unforgettable tune.

Review: Electric Ballroom proudly introduces Tommahawk, a rising force from Germany's next generation of peak-progressive house producers. 'Unfolding' lends a heart-in-mouth pre-drop choir motif to an antecedent stab centrepiece, whose vestiges linger long after the refrain tapers off. Label head Thomas Schumacher remixes the track in airier and floatier tones, meanwhile, creating an abiding minimal progressive ballast to contrast the A-side's intense eschatology.
